Roma captain Francesco Totti has lauded former Real Madrid hitman Raul after he left the club for German side Schalke 04.

Raul enjoyed a stellar career at the Bernabeu in which he won the lot. And Totti, a club legend himself with the Giallorossi, has paid honour to the monumental Spanish striker.

"Sixteen years with the Real Madrid shirt, 323 goals and 741 games... [they are] figures that leave you with your mouth open," Totti told his official website.

"Apart from being one of the strongest players in Spanish football, he was the soul of Real Madrid.

"I have always admired him. For me he is a great, one that deserved to win the Ballon d'Or.

"He could cover any role and he had goals in his blood.

"Players like him are few and this is why I want to render his honour."

Mr Z. you sold out just like your team

Totti and Mr M were both right again. The fact that Real Madrid is made up of Mr Z's that do not see the value in the devotion of a 'one-club' player makes us all realise what an atrocity Real Madrid has done to the beautiful team spirit that should be invoked in football. Mr Z, go ahead and enjoy Real Madrid, the team that has completely lost it heart, along with the hearts of its own fans.

Mr M. You are a very stupid person. For you to say that now you are not a real madrid fun because raul left it is just moronic (stupid) if you are a fan of a team, you are a fan for good and not because of a player. I love Raul, I think he is the best, but he does not make real madrid, he was just one special player that we will all miss but never leave the team you love! Mr Z

They have lost their soul indeed. And you are right Francesco, players like Raul, Totti and Giggs are very few and we are missing them in these days. Personally, I was a Madrid fan until Raul left (now i'm with Schalke), and I really like C. Ronaldo and Messi but yet none of these and other stars have the special status of these old footballers because football is about devotion, sportsmanship and respect in addition to goals and records.., and I guess Raul has them all.
