AC Milan director Barbara Berlusconi has urged the club's supporters to back the team despite their poor run of form.
The Italian champions have failed to win their last three games in all competitions, losing ground in the Scudetto race to Juventus and suffering a home defeat to the Turin club in the Coppa Italia semi-final.
However, Berlusconi, the daughter of Italy's former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, has insisted that the terraces must keep the faith in Massimiliano Allegri's men.
"The team need to feel the support of our fans. This should not be a time of controversy and criticism. We are in an important stage of the season," Berlusconi said according to Ansa.
"The coming weeks will no doubt be decisive. We are still on course to achieve all our goals.
"There is no lack of good news. Stephan El Shaarawy is proving to be a promising footballer and some of our players are now reaching a good level of form.
"In general, however, this is a difficult period to go through, many of our players are still unavailable and we are playing every three days, so it is difficult to recover.
"But even so, I ask everyone for their support and confidence."
AC Milan's difficult run continues with a trip to fellow title-challengers Udinese, before a Champions League clash at home to Arsenal on February 15. |
